Early in the twentieth century, composers and artists began to experiment enthusiastically with new forms of music and art. From that period came some of the most exciting compositions and collaborations the world had seen. You’ll experience some of that exhilaration when we perform Stravinsky’s passionate ballet The Firebird and Prokofiev’s stylistically varied “Lieutenant Kije” Suite with its electrifying big band climax. Favorite pieces by Kodaly and Ravel round out a bill that celebrates musical innovation.
Frances Cobb began playing the harp at age six with members of her own family at her home in Arkansas. The love of the harp had been passed down through three generations of the Cobb family beginning with her grandmother. Frances has played principal harp with the Kentucky Symphony, Columbus Symphony, Queen City Chamber Opera, Cincinnati Symphony, as well as the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra.
